Have you heard the saying that God answers prayers in 3 ways, well it is true and I am going to explain to you exactly what that means and why?  Because even if God gives you a big fat no, that is still an answer and when God chooses to answer your prayers in the way that He answers the prayers (even if you don’t like it) you have to trust that God’s answer is the best answer.  Even though all three of those answers sounds like very simple answers, the way God answers your prayers can have a very in-depth meaning and God could be trying to tell you something with your answer.

Understanding why God answers prayers in 3 ways will help you understand the answer that you are getting and alleviate any frustrations that you are feeling toward God because you feel like He is not answering your prayer fast enough or the way you want Him to answer your prayers. And understanding what YOU need to do and what God wants YOU to do after he answers your prayers is also important.

For example, if God says that He does not want you to get married yet then you need to figure out why that is and change something in yourself if need be. And the way that you would do this is that after God answers your prayer you just get guidance from the Holy Spirit  (click here for more about the Holy Spirit) and the main purpose of the Holy Spirit is to serve as a communicator between you and God.

The Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and make you remember all that I have told you. (John 14:26)

Now that I have said all of that let’s get into how God answers prayers in 3 ways and explain exactly what that means.

God answers prayers in 3 ways ~ How To Pray For Answers From God When The Answer Is Yes!

God answers prayers in 3 ways and of course, this is the best type of answer to prayers that we want to get.  We pray for something and then we see results.  It is more likely to get a yes to your prayer when you are praying from a pure heart and unselfish prayers (click here to see my blog on praying prayers that get answered).  In fact, I have a second video that is helpful for you to watch and it is about how to call things into existence which is pretty much how to get God to answer your prayers.  With you can watch below.

This is not to say that we just call whatever we want into existence but we do work with God to call things into existence and those things can be unlimited as long as God is in agreement with you.

God Answers Prayers In 3 Ways ~ How To Pray For Answers From God And Get A Yes

For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God. 2 Corinthians 1:20  (AMP)

You see that God already wants to give you a yes, but you may be wondering WHY when you pray God will say no. Well first note the promises of God.  You need to understand what that is, and that is not that God will just give you any and everything just because you are you.

 God answers prayers in 3 ways ~ How To Pray For Answers From God When The Answer Is No

There were so many times that I prayed and prayed with a good heart but the answer to my prayer was no.  God answered no when a baby died in my family (click here to read the blog on that).  There are some prayers that I can clearly see why God answered no. It does not seem fair and it does not seem right.

You may have fasted, prayed, and did the most when it comes to getting your prayers answered but still, the answer is a big fat no.  Even David was a man after God’s own heart and he fasted for his child to not die but yet the answer was still a big fat no.  Do not get caught up on the no but rather pay attention to why God is saying no.

Often times when God’s answer to your prayer is no, you do not understand why.  But later on down the line, you will see why God answered no. I used to pray that my son’s father would do the right thing and pay child support BUT as years past I realized this was a no because me not getting child support is actually what propelled me into me starting my own business (click here). So there is always a reason even though it makes no logical sense.

God Answers Prayers In 3 Ways ~ How To Pray For Answers From God Why the answer to your prayer is a no

This should go without saying but you cannot pray for someone to be harmed, someone to die, pray out of a place of anger, or pray for the man you are seeing to leave his wife.  These things are not of God and God is not going to honor these prayers that come from the works of the flesh (click here to read my blog on that). God is always going to say no to prayers that come from a place of your own selfish desires and it does not really glorify Him or His kingdom in anyway. Especially if you are praying for something bad to happen to someone else.

You ask [God for something] and do not receive it, because you ask with wrong motives [out of selfishness or with an unrighteous agenda], so that [when you get what you want] you may spend it on your [hedonistic] desires. James 4:2

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,  not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. Philippians 2:3-4

When God Answers Prayers And Its A No! ~ What You Want Is Not His Will 

The main reason why God says no is because what you are praying for is not within his will. 

God even said no to Jesus. God told Jesus that He had to die and Jesus asked God to let their be a different way and God’s answer was a big fat no.

He was saying, “Abba, Father! All things are possible for You; take this cup [of judgment] away from Me; but not what I will, but what You will.  Mark 14:36  (AMP)

This is where Jesus prayed not to be crucified.  Even though He did not want to die, Jesus said that God’s will shall be done over His own meaning that His prayer was answered, even though it is not what Jesus wanted. Because the point of Jesus was for him to die for our sins.  Did it suck, of course? But this was Jesus’s purpose and there was no way out of it.   But this proves that your prayers can be what God wants and not what you want and that you have to trust that God knows what he is doing even when He tells you no.

When God Answers Prayers And Its A No! ~ Because You Are Not In Alignment 

The second reason is why God is telling us no is because our sin is getting into your own way from Him answering our prayers.

If you look at Psalm 66: 17-18 it says

“I cried out to him for help, and I praised him. If I had been hiding sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened to me.”

Here you can clearly see that God answered the prayer because they praised God and cried out for help but if you are sinful and going out and doing what you want to do, then don’t expect God to be your magic genie and answer your prayers.

God is requiring you to do your part so that He can do his part.  This can go also for waiting or a relationship, promotion, or even a purpose.  You can pray for a promotion and not even be doing a good job at work.  God is not going to give it to you because you are not doing your part and you have not proven yourself worthy or a promotion.  So why would He reward your laziness? That is a prayer that is not going to be answered. If you are praying to be in a relationship but you are sleeping around with everyone man that you look at KNOWING God says to stay away from sexual sin then you are not doing your part.

and we receive from Him whatever we ask because we [carefully and consistently] keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight [habitually seeking to follow His plan for us].  1 John 3:22

When God Answers Prayers And Its A No! ~ You Are Saying No

God is not saying no but you are. You can literally be speaking down to your own blessing and prayers by being filled with doubt and not thinking that God can really do what you have prayed for.

For this reason, I am telling you, whatever things you ask for in prayer [in accordance with God’s will], believe [with confident trust] that you have received them, and they will be given to you. Mark 11:24 (AMP)

When God Answers Prayers And Its A No! ~ What You Want Will Destroy You

The last most common reason why God says no is because what you think you want is really not for you and God answering your prayers will probably destroy you.  You can be praying for a specific job and God knows that if you take that job the company is going to go out of business within a year leaving you jobless.  You can be praying for a specific man but God may know that if you marry that man you will be unhappy.

So just know that if God says no to your prayers then it is for your own good and you need if we ask anything according to His will, [that is, consistent with His plan and purpose] He hears us. 1 John 5:14

TRUST that.  You may not see why He said no right away, you may not see why he said no until 10 years from now, and you may never see why He said no.  But that is where the element of trust and faith comes in.  Knowing that God is not going to do anything to hurt you and He is always going to act according to His plan and trusting that God knows without a shadow of a doubt that His plan is the best plan. Why Does God answers prayers in 3 ways ~ How To Pray For Answers From God When The Answer Is Not Yet

When God answers your prayers in the not yet format He is essentially telling you to wait.  It can be hard to hear the not yet answer because you may not be sure if God’s answer is a not yet or a flat out no.  But once again that is why it is so important to be in tune with the Holy Spirit so you can differentiate when God is telling you No to your prayers and telling you to wait.

A common reason for the not yet answer is because you are not ready.  You can be praying for a husband and God can be telling you not yet. He can be telling you not yet because you are not ready to be wife, there may be things He wants you to do as a single, or you may not be in the position that God wants you to be in yet to meet your husband.  It does not mean that you are NEVER going to get married it just means that right now you are not going to get married.

With the not yet answer it can conditional or unconditional and only you can figure out which one is which. The conditional not yet answer means that there is something that must be done on your part in order to get an answer to your prayer.  Maybe you need to work harder, develop a better work ethic, improve your faith, or something else before you are ready for God to answer your prayer.

The conditional part is that the answer to the prayer really depends upon you. The answer can be a no if you never do what you are supposed to do. The answer can be two weeks or 40 years.  Legit, the Israelites took 40 years to get to the promised land when it was supposed to take 11 days. (Deuteronomy 1:2-3).

Did they get to the promised land sure, or some of them did and some never got to the promised land because they just refused to do what God wanted them to do (which I have a video on down below). If you do your part then God will answer your prayer.  If you do not do your part then the answer to your prayer will be a no.

An unconditional not yet answer to prayer means that it is going to happen regardless but the time in which you are praying for it may not be the right time.  This is when you have done all you can do and you know that God wants to answer your prayers but it may not be the right season or the people that God has called to help you may not be in the right place yet.  It could also mean that your prayers are just held up.

When you read Daniel 10:11-13

Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words.  But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was standing in opposition to me for twenty-one days. Then, behold, Michael, one of the chief [of the celestial] princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.

All this is saying that when Daniel prayed God released an angel right way to answer Daniel’s prayers, but then the devil delayed the angel and kept the angel from answering Daniel’s prayers right way. To the point that he actually needed help and a stronger angel had to come and help.  And it took 21 days.  For you it may not take 20 days, it may take months, it may even take years AND it may not be your fault.  There may be other things in play, other people in play, or other situations in play that has nothing to do with you.

God Answers Prayers In 3 Ways ~ If your answer is not yet then what?

Just like I talked about the works of the flesh, I am going to tell you about works of the spirit. Which is what you should be doing always but especially when you are waiting for your prayer to be answered:

But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5:22

I bold some of the fruits of the spirit texts which are the ones you should do while you are waiting for your prayers to be answered.  Be patient and act right while you are waiting but not like a jerk, crying and carrying on. And also be kind and be faithful, knowing and expecting that any day now that the answer to your prayer is going to be answered.
