I want to share with you the MOST POWERFUL Bible verses about prayer and faith. You cannot have prayer without faith and you cannot have faith without prayer, and the following Bible verses will tell you exactly how both prayer and faith go hand and hand.

So if you are offering up prayers without faith then good luck for getting those prayers answered. And if you have faith but you are not praying, then you are not building an actual relationship with God and therefore you are missing out on the BEST part of being a Christian.

Not only will I share these Bible verses with you BUT also tell you how to use them in your own life to make them more effective.

Let’s Get Into It Shall We

1. and 2. Bible Verses about Prayer and Faith (Faith without works)

The first of the Bible verses about prayer and faith is that faith without works is dead. I know I said that before, but I want to talk about the following Bible verse which states that faith without works is dead.  Works can be many things including deeds and works can be prayers.

Take the following Bible verses about prayer and faith:

  1. What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? James 2:14

2. Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that and shudder. James 2:18-19

You can believe that there is a God in heaven that exists, okay well good for you. But like the above verse says even the devil knows that God is real and the devil is evil. So if you just choose to believe there is a God but have no prayer to back it up, what makes you different from the devil?

Why these Bible verses about prayer and faith are helpful

What are you doing to go above and beyond to enhance your faith with God? Simply saying that you know that there is a God and you know He exists is not enough.

You need to be praying to God, acknowledge His presence through prayer, and have a relationship with Him. I encourage you to read my blog post on why religion is not a relationship (click here to read). There are plenty of people who can say they are Christian and they believe in God. But having the relationship formed through prayer is what will get you close to God.

3. Bible Verses about Prayer and Faith (You cannot just pray and have no faith)

With the above point being made you cannot just have prayed and have no faith. This sounds like common sense, right? WRONG. You would not believe how many people say a prayer to whoever is listening.

They offer up a prayer just because they want something but God is not behind the intention of their prayer.

Take the next of the Bible verses about prayer and faith to see what I am talking about.

3. And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek him. Hebrews 11:6

Just think about it, how are you going to come to God and ask Him for something without even knowing, caring, or believing in Him?

And the only reason why you are asking God for something is because of a well just in case He is real let me say a prayer so that I can get what I want.

How selfish is that? What if I were to walk up to a stranger in the store and tell them to give me a $100. No, I do not know them, but I need a $100 so let me just ask just in case they may give it to me. Don’t do God like that, don’t just have your hand out and pray some just in case God is up there prayer. Pray because you have faith in God and what God can do for you.

4. Bible Verses about Prayer and Faith (Faith is what moves your prayers)

The next of the Bible verses about prayer and faith is:

4. Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, Go, throw yourself into the sea, and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”‘ Mark 11:22-24

When you pray you are choosing to give your cares, concerns, and request to God. What good does it do that when you pray if you doubt that something is even possible or if God can even do it? If you choose to do this you are placing limits on God and allowing him NOT to answer your prayers.

You may be wondering how on Earth you can place limits on God, if God is God then He should be able to do whatever He wants. Yes, but he still needs your faith to act on your behalf. He cannot just intervene in your life if you really don’t want Him to.

Bible Verses About Prayer And Faith Case In Point:

In Mark 6:5-6 Jesus tried to heal a lot of sick people and he COULD NOT do it.

He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

The reason why He could not do it is that people lack faith and did not believe that Jesus could do what He said He could do and therefore, their negative energy prevented Jesus from performing miracles.

Do not ask God for something and in the back of your mind think that it is not possible for Him to do what you asked Him of. Another SURE way to NOT get your prayers answered.  The Bible speaks ALOT about this, and I have a video on it which may be work you checking out below.

How complaining and lack of faith actually hindered God From answering their prayers.

5. Bible Verses about Prayer and Faith (Faith is what moves your prayers)

5. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:24

Pray for something, give it to God, believe that God will answer it, and then go about your day. That’s how faith and prayer works.

6. Bible Verses about Prayer and Faith ( Keep the faith in hard times too)

Pray to God for everything. Not just when you want something but even in the bad times. I quoted this Bible verse in my Bible verses to overcome adversity blog. And it states:

6. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

So many times we give our concerns to God through prayer and we STILL worry about them.  That is where your faith comes in again. Even if you are going through a hard time, worry, and/or anxious about something; once you pray and give it to God let it go.

If you pray about something and continue to worry that means you are lacking faith.  If you believe that God can answer the prayer then why worry about it.

If you continue to worry about something that you have prayed about then you are doubting that God is going to come through for you. And I have already talked about where doubting God will get you when you pray in the previous Bible verse.

Therefore I repeat: Pray for something, give it to God (even your worries), believe that God will answer it, and then go about your day. That’s how faith and prayer works.

Having faith that God will come through for you is something that I like to call spiritual cockiness.  It is hard to explain here and NO it is not about you being cocky but being cocky in the God you serve and how he can do anything. Watch my video below to understand what I mean by spiritual cockiness and how to use it.

7. Bible Verses about Prayer and Faith (A Prayer Offered Up In Faith Is a Prayer That Can Do Anything)

As I have mentioned so far you need to have faith when you pray for something you want and you need to have faith when you are praying for something that makes you anxious.  Faith is the key to the answered prayer.

Take the following Bible Verse:

7. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:13-16

There are so many things that you can pray for and that you should be praying for. In fact, as a Christian, I feel that you should pray about everything no matter how big or small it seems to you.

Prayer changes things. Like the above Bible verse stays a prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. It can make you well, it can give you money when you are going through a hard time, it can watch over your children, prayer can have your sin’s forgiven. With prayer and faith, the world is your oyster.

AND if you remember these Bible verses and really start praying about EVERYTHING in your life and have FAITH that God will answer your prayers, then you will start to see exactly how effective prayer and faith can be.
