Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint (Review and Swatches)
Matte lipstick is in and there are so many matte lipstick brands out there I am willing to try, in search for the best matte lipstick. Tarte is a reputable brand and so I really wanted to give their Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint a try. Obviously, I am a black woman and finding lipstick shades for dark skin can be challenging because not every shade works with my skin tone. I am sure that no matter what color you are, you have to figure out if a color works with your skin or if it will have you walking around looking like a clown. Which none us want.
In any case I bought this tartiest creamy matte lip paint from Sephora, and it was the Crayon Set Holiday limited edition for 2016. The set came with 5 different colors and 5 different lip pencils. The set contains all liquid matte lipstick, which is something I prefer over just traditional matte lipstick. I did love 4 out of the 5 of the colors, BUT all of the lip pencils were dry, old, and they all broke when I tried to apply them. You can look at my video below to see my full review. I do not know if my kit was just old and the lip pencils got dried out or what, but I refuse to believe that every lip pencil from Tarte is like that. Some of the lip pencils would have been really nice, had they not had that issue. You can click here to see all the individual lip pencils in full sizes as the lip pencils in this kit were smaller versions.
Here are the name of the lip pencils
Vibes (deep berry)
Meme (deep nude)
As far as the Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint themselves, when it says crayon set, they mean it. It felt like a creamy crayon was being spread on my lips. Click here to view some other tartiest lip paints.

I really liked this shade. Red lipstick for dark skin can be a hit or miss if you do not get the right tone of red (you can check out my blog on red lipstick suggestions here as well). I did think that the color was going to be a little darker than what it was but it was still pretty.

This is a light pink that can be a lipstick color for any skin tone really. Even though it is light pink, it is still pigmented, is pretty thick, and will last throughout the day.
Out of all of the colors I hated this one the most. I really felt like it was suppose to be a nude shade, but not a nude lipstick for dark skin. It was just too light. But if you are lighter or have a fair skin tone then this lip shade will work for you. Also, I cannot find this color online for you to buy. That says something about how much of a hot mess this color is and they probably regretted making it.
Inspo (I loved this lip color).
It is a darker pink, which is a lipstick shade that darker skinned people may shy away from, but I thought this lip shade was fire. The pink color is just so rich and pigmented I loved it. I looked online for a full size and could not find it anywhere.

Out of all of the lip shades this one would have to be my favorite. This is a really good lipstick shades for if you have darker lips.
My overall rating for the kit was a 6 out of 10. I loved 4 out of 5 of the lip colors. The one I did not love was just because it was too light and it did not look good on my at all. But it was not a bad lip color; just not for me. What brought the rating down for this kit was the lip pencils. I could not even rate the lip pencils because all of them kept breaking. The lip pencils were hard to apply and were not very good for precision.
