Beauty Hair Makeup

Ipsy versus Birchbox versus Onyx. These are all of the month beauty subscription services that I get, and here is my unboxing for the month of February.

I am first going to start with the box that I liked the most this month and that is Ipsy.

Ipsy Bag

Soo Ae Purifying Black Charcoal Mask

Yes I got 2 mask this month. Really, Ipsy is supposed to send you five products each month but since I got two mask I really got 6 items this month.  I have already used the Charcoal Mask, which I am satisfied with.  Charcoal mask are popular and are supposed to be great for clearing up your skin.  When I put it on my son looked at me like a crazy person, but it was easy to apply and I liked it.  This is not one of that charcoal mask that peel off your black heads, I should say that, but it is still a good mask over all.

Nature Green Tea Collagen Essence Mask

I have yet to try the Green Tea mask, but I also know that green tea is good for you. I read the back of the mask and it would appear that the mask is supposed to help with your skin’s youthfulness. If it is as good as the first mask then I assume I will enjoy it.

NYX Butter Lipstick- Life Guard

OMG! I love this lip color. I cannot tell you enough.  It is so pretty and so smooth.  The lipstick is butter lipstick and that is what it feels like.  It is NOT matte, but rather a glossy smooth lip color. Did I mention that NYX is one of my favorite brands! This may be the reason why Ispy was still my favorite this month.

BelláPierre Volumelash Waterproof Mascara

What can I say about this mascara? I feel like my reviews are always bad on mascara because they all do the same thing in my opinion.  As long as you can put it on and your eyelashes and look good afterward, then it gets an A+ in my opinion.

Seraphine Botanicals Luminude in Primrose

This reminds me of bronzing lotions or tanning lotions. Since I am dark skin it shows up as a light shimmer on me, which is fine for me.  If you are lighter than the shimmer will be more apparent.

Luxie Rose Gold Blush Brush 514

I got a Luxie brush in a past subscription box, but this one was a blush brush. Brushes are like mascara, either they work or they don’t.  As long as I can put powder on it and rub it on my face, then that is a win in my book for brushes.

Birch Box

I was so disappointed this month in my Birch box.

Dr. Brandt microdermabrasion skin exfoliant

This is something that I would use because it says that it is good for treating dark spots. A positive is that the beads in the exfoliant are really small. Sometimes with exfoliants the beads can be big and be rough on your skin, just from the texture I do not feel this would be the case.

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré (24-Hour Miracle Cream)

So most of the title on the container was in French. And for that reason I am assuming that this is something like lotions.  That is what is smells like and that is what I am going to use it for.

Dr. Lipp Miracle Balm

I would actually use this. My lips have been getting very chapped because of the cold weather and all the matte lip color I have been using, which I feel dries out my lips. This is supposed to help with that.  You are also supposed to be able to use it for your cheeks and to apply glitter to it for eyeshadow. It really kind of feels like Vaseline and looks a lot of like Vaseline.

Manna Kadar Cosmetics Lip Locked : Manna Kadar Cosmetics Lip Locked Rosette

I got this lip color in my Onyx box last month (click here to see that post). I liked it then and I like it now.  It is thick and I think it is meant to be a nude shade.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo

I do not know how to review this. In my Boxy charm subscription (click here to read) I mentioned that I do not use dry shampoo.  I do not think that it is for black people’s hair.  I filled out my profile on Birchbox and so I am unsure why they sent me this.  It says for all hair types, BUT dry shampoo is not for black hair and I will not be using it.  That is all I have to say about that.

Onyx Box:

Last month (click here) was an amazing month for this box. This month not so much.

This is a cute comb but let’s be real, it is a comb. I do like the color but not much to review.

Naturally bare balm body intense body moisturizer

I thought this was pretty cool. It smelled a little funny, like acorns or something, but it turns into oil as soon as it hits your skin.

I like this color but I also feel like I have this color with another brand. To be fair I love the idea that it is full size. But as you can see, I am still rocking it.

Doucce Freematic Eye Shadow Palette, Subtle Elegance

This is a cute pallete. The colors are neutral and metallic.  It is a cute little travel size, which is what I would more than likely use it for.

And last but not least I got two small clips…..That I am not sure what to do with.

All and all Onyx box needs to step their game up. They are the most expensive box out of the three and so I do have high expectations for them.  And this month I was not happy.
