Well then you have come to the right place because am going to give you the items you need for your makeup starter kit, that you can create multiple makeup looks with, that will last your for months, and as always that are SUPER affordable. I remember when I was first starting out on makeup I had to built up my makeup kit and I did not want to spend $75 on one single brush.

Well lucky for you there is no need to do that. You can get the same amazingly slayed makeup while with these affordable makeup products.  In fact, I am going to tell you how to complete your makeup starter kit (brushes, products, a full face of makeup, and products that could last you for months less than $80).  All of it.

So when I say makeup starter kit, I am talking about a real makeup starter kit for those women who are looking to get serious about their makeup. For those woman who are starting out with makeup and want to learn how to do make up. I am not talking about those little eye applicators that comes in the makeup eye shadow or the blushes. I am talking about an actual makeup starter kit complete with brushes, foundations, blushes, eye shadows and more.

I am choosing ones that you can get the most wear out of and items that you can create the most looks with the least amount of products.  Even if you do not own an ounce of makeup, getting these products are enough to give you a full face of glam, day time look, night time look, that will last you awhile, and they won’t break the bank.  So now that I have talked your head off about it, lets get into it shall we. But first, I also have my own everyday makeup kit that you can buy by clicking here.  And you can watch the video down below to see how to use it.

#1 Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Brushes

The first thing you are going to need is brushes. Brushes will help you apply your blush, your eye shadow, your powder foundation, and contouring. And as I said before those small little brushes that sometimes comes with the blushes or eye shadows are not going to cut it if you really want to step up your makeup game. Brushes can be VERY expensive, but if you are looking to have a makeup starter kit there is no need to splurge on brushes.

At least not until you get the hang of what you are doing. In fact, I know what I am doing and I still do not splurge on brushes. I find that the affordable brushes do me just fine. My suggestions is this BS MALL Brush set (click here to buy)  and it only cost $10 for a 14 brush set. It really does have just about everything you need for a beginner. This brush set includes:

1. Angled Brush: It’s perfect for blush and bronzer.
2.Flat Angled Brush: Fits all areas of the face seamlessly.
3.Face Flat Brush: Blend liquid or cream products onto flat areas of the face such as forehead and cheeks.
4.Round Brush:Buffed powder foundation application, for blending mineral products onto the skin.
5.Tapered Brush:Best for concealing the under eyes and nose areas which are hard to reach.
6.Blending Brush.
7.Angled Eyeshadow Brush.
8.Classic Eyeshadoe Brush.
9.Concealer Brush.
10. Pricise Brush.
11.Detail Brush.
12. Angled Detail Brush.
13.Classic Detail Brush.
14.Eyeliner Brush.

I understand that these brushes may not be the most pretty or most decorative.  Some people may not care but for those who do you can see some of my brush picks below that are also affordable but they are also more decorative in case the above brushes are a little boring for you.

#2 Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ A Sponge

The makeup sponge to apply makeup became really popular with the creation of the original beauty blender which retails for $25 for one sponge (click here to see). And that is a lot of money for some sponges.  But since the beauty blender became popular there have been some more affordable similar makeup sponges that have come out. The sponge is optional as your brushes come with a foundation brush.

You can use the sponge to apply your liquid foundation and the brushes to apply powder foundation. There is a video below that you can watch to see how you can use the sponge to apply makeup. The video is with the original beauty blender, but a sponge is a sponge and you can the affordable sponges that I am offering you and to do the same technique.

My recommendations is a sponge by Aesthetica Cosmetics (click here to buy). The Aesthetica Cosmetics Beauty Sponge blends both power, cream and liquid makeup. The rounded end of the sponge is great for blending on the cheeks, while the precision of the sponge’s tip makes covering minor imperfections easy. Use the flat edge for contouring. Some of the great benefits of these sponge is that it is made from non-latex foam to reduce allergies and 100% Vegan and Cruelty free. Which is great for those who have sensitive skin. Plus, Aesthetica is a reputable beauty brand and makes great quality products. This sponge retails for only $7. You can view the video below to see how to use it.

#3 Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Primers

Many beginners tend to be confused on what primer is and why you need it. Primers are optional but you makeup can look better, last longer, and give you a better finish if you use it.  Basically it is the cream you apply on your face like lotion before you put on your makeup. I am going to recommend the Maybelline Face studio primer which you can click here to  and it retails for under $8.

The reason because is because they have multiple primers and each primer can do something different. I like Maybelline Facestudio because they have difference primers for difference skin needs. One can make you have smaller pores, one makes your skin tone look even, if you have imperfect skin some primers have a blurring effect that will make your skin look more flawless, and one even colors corrects if you have hyper pigmentation.  So if there is a specific effect that you want to get out of your makeup look then chose a specific primer that it catered to that. Here are my suggestions for affordable primers.

#4 Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Contour Kit (For dark skin) and (For Light skin)

I know that contouring can sound very intimidating but I promise you, it is not. Not at all, you do not have to do the most when it comes to contouring. In fact, you can look at my video below which is a beginner friendly makeup tutorial to see exactly how I used the highlight and contour in a very beginner friendly way.

Another bonus of having a cream contour kit is that you can use it as a base for your eye shadow which will pretty much serve as a primer so that your eye shadow shows up better and does not crease. You can see that I do that in my makeup video below as well.

This is why a contour kit is good to have because it can be used for multiple things. My  recommendations is the Elf Contour Kit. It only has four colors which is all you really need as a beginner and it is super affordable retailing for only $6. Click here to get the contour for dark skin and click here to get the contour for light skin.

Check out my soft glam video below to see ways you can use a cream contour kit and a beginner friendly way to both highlight and contour.

#5 Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Foundation (Click here for liquid foundation and click here for powder foundation).

You can use liquid, you can use powder, or you can use both. For me personally I use both.  Below this section I will link another video of my everyday makeup look to show you how I use both of these foundations and how flawless they look even though they are super affordable.

Liquid Foundation (Click to buy).

I am a huge fan of the LA Girl PRO Coverage foundation which you can click here to buy. The foundations only retails for $5-$8 depending on your shade. And for this foundation to be affordable they have ALOT Of shades and you can pretty much find your skin tone. Or at the very least mix two foundation together to make your skin tone.  This is more of a full coverage foundation hence the name and will make your skin look smooth and flawless.

L’Oreal True Match Powder Foundation (Click to buy)

I use powder foundation to cover over the liquid foundation for two reasons. The first is to provide more coverage and the second is to also set the liquid foundation. I do have oily skin and just using the liquid for me can make my skin appear more oily and putting powder over it, mattes it out. This powder also has a decent amount of colors but since it is powder foundation it does not have to match exact. Also, this foundation is blendable and will blend in to your natural color.  Click here to buy the L’Oreal True Match Powder Foundation (click here). It retails from $6-$10 depending on your shade.

You can watch my beginner friendly everyday makeup look video below to see how I utilized both of these foundations together.

#6 Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Eye shadow

As a beginner you do not need tons and tons of eye shadow palettes, you just need one really good one that is versatile that you will be able to create a day time look, a night time look, a soft glam look, or a smokey eye look if you wanted to and you need to be able to do that with having just one palette. Which is why I am recommending the Morphe Palette which you can click here to buy.  If has a combination of matte, shimmer, and enough variation in color so that you can get different looks.

7. Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Highlighter

If you watched any of my videos above then you will see that I pretty much used one type of highlighter from Wet n Wild called blossom glow (click to buy) and I am so crazy about it. Remember when Wet n Wild use to be like nail polish and lip gloss. Well no more, they have come out with some amazing products and these highlighters are one of them. This really pigmented highlighter can be yours for only $5. And if you don’t like the color blossom glow then they have several other super pigmented highlighters you can choose from.

8. Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Blush

At this point you may be thinking that this is a lot of makeup, but I promise you that if you get these items you are pretty much set when it comes to having your makeup starter kit. The next items I am going to recommend is blush. I used to not like blush but I have come to realize that it is essential to your makeup collection.  Applying blush can elevate your makeup look times 10 and it does not take much effort to do it. I personally love darker blush but I also understand that this is not everyone’s cup of team. Which is why I recommend the Maybelline Facestudio Master Blush Color & Highlight Kit (click here to buy). This kit will give you the option of having more prominent blush to a more settle blush all on one palette. Instead of buying multiple single blushes you can get four in one kit and it retails for about $8.50.

9. Makeup For Beginners Kit ~ Lips.

Having a good lip color can make or break your look. If you watched my two videos above then you should have noticed that I had a strong lip color in each. Now having a bold lip color may not be your cup of tea but I was just bringing out the point that having a nice lip shade that goes with your skin tone can make or break your look. In fact, you can have the same makeup on and switch up your lip color and bring yourself to a night time look without changing anything else.

My recommendation for lip colors for your makeup starter kit is the Nyx Vault Kit that you can click here to buy. Since not all lip colors go with every shade of skin I have my recommendations below on the difference sets so that you can pick. That way you can get the lips shades that are geared closer to your skin and personal taste.

These are all of the 9 items that you will need for your make for beginners kit that will give you everything you need to just SLAY.  If you know someone who may need to read this post then share it with them.
