Valentine ’s Day is coming up, you are single, and you know that you will be spending the day alone. I personally do not mind being single but when Valentine’s Day comes around it can make you feel more single then you already are.  It is the one day of the year that most single woman dread.

Since you cannot stop time nor can you skip over time and prevent the day from happening. You can make the day as painless for yourself as possible.  So take these suggestions on what you can do on Valentine’s Day as a single woman.

Send Yourself Something

That is right. Send yourself flowers, a bear, or chocolates as work.  Better yet, send a single friend of your flowers, candy at work, and have her do the same to you with a little note.  That way you can be reminded that someone loves you, even if it is not a significant other.  You still have your friends and if you have no friends, then you still have yourself. Send yourself something awesome and even write a note to yourself reminding yourself of how awesome you are.

Here are some ideas of where you can get something for yourself.

Isolate Yourself

If you are the type of person that cannot stand looking at other people’s love and romantic happiness then I suggest you bunker in until the day is over. However, do not just sit in the house and be bored and think of how lonely you are.  Make a day out of it.

Pamper Yourself

Watch Anti-love and Anti Valentine’s Day Movies. The ones that will make you glad you are not in love. Here are just a few ideas:

Order a whole bunch of take out, ice cream, cookies, and cake.

Have A Valentine’s Day gift sent to your house (see above on where to get them).

If you take off from work and hide yourself indoors for the entire day. It is kind of, like Valentine’s day never existed.

Go to an Anti- Valentine’s Day Party or Throw One

Either you can throw one or you can find one. One place that you may be able to find an anti-Valentine’s day party is looking at the Meetup.com.  They always have meet ups for every little thing so I am sure you are bound to find one.  But be weary.  If you go out to a party and it is in a restaurant, you may see other couples loving each other and giving each other gifts while you’re at the same restaurant.  Which would defeat the purpose of an anti-Valentine’s day party.  You will be at the party, all the while looking around at couples that are happy.  Which will more than likely make you feel worse.

If you chose to throw a party, do it in seclusion. At your house.  That way you can have a bunch of anti-Valentine’s day décor like a broken heart or a bear with a knife in its chest… (well maybe the bear may be a little bit much).  But you get the picture.  In addition, you will not have to run into other happy couples rubbing their happiness in your face.

Do Something Nice

Instead of wallowing in self pity, you can actually chose to grab the bull by the horns and do something nice for other people. You can chose to make little Valentine’s Day Cards for people at work.  Or put a Valentine’s day theme bear on their desk.  Just like, you have no one for Valentine’s Day.  Other people in your office may not have anyone either, and giving them something may make their day.

Here are some Valentine Ideas for the Office

Have a girl’s night in or out.

I personally prefer a girl’s night in. I tried to go out with single girlfriends before on Valentine’s Day and literally one of them almost had a meltdown because she could not take the couples all around us.  It was insane.  So if your girlfriend’s are stable, then go out.  If not, then stay in. You can click my blog here on how to have a girl’s night in and click here to see my blog on how to have a girls night out.

In all reality, Valentine’s Day is just another day and it is what you make it. Even though you are single now, just think that when you do enter a relationship how much more you want to celebrate it to make up for all the past Valentine’s Day(s) that you were single.
