Do you have issues dealing with haters? Before I tell you how to deal with your haters I must first tell you this. Not everyone is going to be happy for your success. Not you’re friends, family, coworkers, and certainly not your enemies. I remember when I first started my Master’s program. Most people told me to my face that I was going to fail. (Also check out my blog on dealing with jealous people).
They would tell me “You’re a single mom, you’re not going to have enough time. It’s going to be too hard.”
But now here I stand with not only a Master’s degree but a PhD. Because at the end of the day when God tells you to do something, He will not only give you the grace but He is also give you the means to do it. It did not matter that other people said I could not do it, God said I could. And the fact that they are hating on you is because you are doing something that they wish they could do.
So when dealing with haters I am giving you the most straight forward advice I can give you. Keep driving forward into your destiny and in your purpose. When you look in the review view mirror, leave all those people behind you. I had to leave a lot of people in my rear view because they are not supportive. If you are dealing with haters you need to learn the same. Haters are going to hate. And even if you get rid of one hater more are going to pop up. So it is best to learn to deal with them than it is for you to keep allowing it to effect your future.
The second key in dealing with haters is to stop telling people what you are doing. It is hard for people to hate on you if they do not even know what you are doing. Just do you, let your actions and your accomplishments speak for you. Not your mouth.
Some people cannot stand you doing something that they are not or something they cannot do. What they fail to understand is what God ordained for you to do is for you and what is for them is for them. What tears them apart is that you are sure of what you want to do and you have found your purpose, while they are still trying to find theirs. So really their problem with your success has little to do with you, but is a reflection of their own insecurities.
The worst thing that you can do is to allow your haters to make you give up on your goals and your purpose. Because then they will have an I told you so moment and you will be exactly where they want you to be. No where, doing a whole bunch of nothing. Whenever you get overwhelmed by your haters remember.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
God is going to strengthen you to do the things that He called you to do. The key word here is that God is calling you do to something that He wants you to you. Your purpose is different from everyone else’s because God did not instill the same gifts in you that he instilled in someone else. So there is no reason to wonder why something is not working the same way for you as it is someone else.
What is for them is for them, and what is for you is for you. The way God wants to do things for them is the way He wants to do for them, and He is going to do what He wants to do for you in His own way. A different way, using your unique sets of gifts and talents. Therefore, it is no reason for us to get jealous of other people and there is no reason for you to pay attention for people who are hating on you. You have your own path to success just like other people have theirs. And it is your responsibility to make sure that you are getting to your success. And it is your responsibility to make sure that you do not let anyone distract you from your success. As long as you are doing what you are supposed to do, you really cannot worry about what other people think about you (read my blog here for more on that).
That may mean that you have to keep your mouth shut and not share things you are trying to do with everyone because they will not be happy for you or even make fun of you for it. Just stay in your own lane and keep succeeding. That is a quick way to shut people up and make believers out of them. As you get higher in your success, some people might try to come in your space just to get a part of your victory, even if they mocked you before. And sometimes they will hate you and mock you even more. This is why we must know that
And if we continue to have faith in what God can do for us, His glory will manifest through us and we will look at all those “haters” in our rear view as we drive toward success. So basically when dealing with haters just ignore them.
