5 Random Acts of Kindness Ideas That Can Significantly Bless Someone Else’s Life

In this post, I want to give you random acts of kindness ideas.  I have learned a long time ago that doing good makes you feel good and there is this whole thing called karma. When you choose to be good and do good to other people then you are literally inviting the same type of goodness to come back into your life. As Christian, it is our job to be Christlike. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbor.

And they too will reply, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then the King will answer, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for Me.’ Matthew 25:44 -45

Just think of it this way, God is in each and every one of us. God created each and every one of us, so every time you decide to display a random act of kindness to someone else, then it is like you are doing it for Jesus himself.

But I am sure that you did not come here to listen to WHY you need to do random acts of kindness but to really get random acts of kindness examples so that you can know exactly how you can bless someone else.  And I am going to give you a list of 5 random acts of kindness ideas that can have a significant change in someone else’s life.

Random Acts of Kindness Ideas  #1 Give money to the homeless.

This sounds really cliché, but no matter where you live there is a homeless person somewhere out there near you. It is literally the easiest thing to do and the easiest thing to find.  There is probably a homeless person somewhere around you that you can bless or give money to.

I remember I used to get $20 in ones and literally every homeless person I saw I would give a $1 to each one until I ran out of money. If by chance you do not feel comfortable giving the homeless money, then you can also buy them a meal a burger. Walk up to them and ask them if they are hungry and if you can buy a meal for them.  You never know it may be the only meal that they eat that day.

Random Acts of Kindness Ideas  #2 Community Service

When I was in high school and went through my first year of college, they made it mandatory for you to do community service AND then write a paper on what you learned.  I can recall volunteering in a homeless shelter or mentoring.  I am not suggesting that you write a whole paper about what you learn when you do community service.

But it would be cool to keep a journal about every experience and go back and read it when you need some perspective on life. When you do community service it puts things in perspective.  No matter how bad you think you got it, there is always someone out there that has it worse.

So not only is community service good for the other person BUT it can also be a life-changing experience for you. A great place to find community service ideas is to just google and find places in your area or even go to your local church.

Random Acts of Kindness Ideas #3 Talk to someone you do not like.

That’s right, I said it.  If there is someone you do not like or they do not like you go out of your way to be nice to them.  I have done this before and I will admit that sometimes nothing will change between you two no matter how kind you are to them.  But if things do change, then who knows you may have found a new friend.  In the end, you never know what someone is going through in their personal life and perhaps hearing your kinds words may be exactly what they need to hear.

Never underestimate how you can lighten up someone’s mood just by being nice to them and offering up words of encouragement.  If you think that another person has a nasty attitude how about you lead by example and BE NICE, go out of your way to BE NICE and show them a better way.

Random Acts of Kindness Ideas  #4 Help Someone Who Needs Help

You would be shocked at how many people you pass every day that are in need of something and you do not even know.  You may not know or you may not have even paid attention. But more than likely when you go about your day to day there is someone that you pass who needs something.

For example, at the bank, I saw a woman struggling to get her power wheelchair up the ramp.  So many people walked past her. They probably did not mean any harm by it. They may have just been busy that day to notice but the point is that I was the only one that stopped to help her push it up the ramp.

It really only took less than a minute out of my day but for the woman who was stuck on the ramp me stopping to help meant so much to her.  So pay attention to who needs your help. Pay attention to what is going around you and pay attention to the people that you know. If there is a single mom who never goes out because she does not have a babysitter, instead of telling her” Girl you need to get out more.

” How about you be a part of the solution and actually watch her child for an evening FOR FREE and give her a chance to go out. As Christians, we are so famous for saying “I’ll pray for you.” Whenever someone tells us about their problem. BUT you may be the answer to their prayer.

Take The Parable of the Good Samaritan

“A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.  The next day he took out two denarii[e] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ Luke 10: 30-35

What do you think was better, for a priest to come along and say God bless you OR for someone to come along and do what was in his ability to do to help the actual stranger? Also, watch my video on this parable AND don’t forget to click here to subscribe to my channel.

Random Acts of Kindness Ideas #5 Encourage someone

Do you know that friend that is going through a breakup? That looks depressed? That is struggling to have a child? Does that feel like they just want to give up? Instead of just looking at them and nodding your head when you hear their hardship, take time out of your day to encourage them and to even pray for them.  So many times as someone who is close to us is telling us about the problems we just sit there and tell them “wow that sucks.”

Instead of throwing a pity party for them and with them try to actually attempt to lift them out of that dark place with your words and also with your actions. Words have power and never underestimate the power of speaking life into someone.  True story, my friend was going through a nasty breakup with a man she was with for a long time and she thought she was going to marry.

She began to feel down in the dump and as her friend, I could have easily bashed him with her and made the situation worse. Instead, I decided to remind her of the awesome person she was. She did not receive it at that moment but the next day she called and thanked me after my words had a chance to marinate over what I said.  Never underestimate the chance to lift a friend up out of a dark space no matter how strong they appear to be.

  1. What a beautiful post. It reminds me of the saying: Be the change you want to see in the world. If kindness could be scattered like glitter imagine the joy it would bring!

  2. This is great. We can all use little reminders to do these small gestures that make a big difference! In Portland, Oregon, everyone talks and smiles at everyone else too, and I thought it would be totally different when I lived in Boston and traveled all around NY/NJ, but I found people to be just as eager to chat in those places too. I think sometimes people just need a smile from a random stranger as a signal that it’s ok to let their guard down 😉
